Wellenreiter (a very nice wireless wardriving app) is available as well at ZUG (http://www.zaurususergroup.org). Download the tgz file, unpack it into ~/install_files, and install in the order that is specified (libpcap, opie1, opie2, then wellenreiter itself -- these packages are all provided in the tgz).
Here are some tips:
-- if you have a different version of libpcap on your system already, install this one. Symlinking to your existing libpcap may work, but I didn't try it.
-- with your wireless card installed (on the 6000L it is builtin), create a new Network configuration in the GUI setup. Give it an IP address of 1.1.1.1, a gateway of 1.1.1.0, and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Make it adhoc, and name it whatever you like. Before starting wellenreiter, you must start this device. Your wireless card's activity light should flash once this configuration has become active.
-- using some editor, edit /opt/QtPalmtop/qpe.sh, and change the lines starting with:
export QPEUSER=
export QPEGROUP=
so that they read:
export QPEUSER=root
export QPEGROUP=root
and save the file and reboot. Alternately, you can find the Wellenreiter icon in the Applications tab, hold the stylus down on it to bring up the Details panel, and check the "Execute with root permissions" checkbox. I actually did both.
I failed to get wellenrighter working on my Zaurus 5600, however, using the above steps, and it is frustrating. The problem is that in Wellenreiter's config screen, I cannot find either wlan0 or eth0. I know eth0 is active, so it is strange that it does not show up. Of course, the network light is *not* blinking as it should when I go to run wellenrighter; probably has something to do with that. If anyone has a clue, post some suggestions as a comment...
